PeopleSoft System Administrator, MS SQL Server DBA

The PeopleSoft System Administrator position is responsible for installing PeopleSoft Applications and PeopleSoft Tools to run on Microsoft SQL Server.  Installing Tuxedo, configure Application Server domains, apply patches, bundles and maintenance packs to the PeopleSoft systems. Identifying, troubleshoot, and resolving issues within the Application, Batch, File and Database servers. Installing, upgrading, maintaining and monitoring all PeopleSoft components such as IIS, Weblogic, Tuxedo Application Servers, Process Schedulers and Integration Broker domains. Helping to manage and administer Windows servers. They also work closely with the Database Administrators, Security Administrators, Developers and Functional Specialists to configure the PeopleSoft environments.  Administer and support tools and utilities that are utilized by numerous development teams. They assist management in developing and managing the long and short-term visions and objectives for PeopleSoft applications. They ensure high quality support, high availability, scalability and responsiveness to meet end user needs in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment. They build and administer numerous PeopleSoft environments for Demo, Development, Testing, Quality Assurance, Training and Production database instances. 


Synopsis:
·         PeopleSoft (PS) HCM 9.1 or greater support experiences
·         PeopleTools 8.54 support experience
·         HCM 9.2 install, implementation, and upgrade experience
·         PeopleTools install and upgrade experience
·         Operations experience including bundle/patches, migrations, refreshes, PeopleSoft Upgrade Manager (PUM), Process Scheduler, and Integration Broker
·         Experience with Secure Enterprise Search (SES)
·         Experience with PeopleSoft’s Performance Management module
·         PS DBA experience, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 on Windows OS 2008 R2.
·         Experience with change control software like Phire, Quest/Dell State, and ServiceNow
·         Experience working with and maintaining PeopleSoft on a high availability (HA) infrastructure
·         Experience working in a virtualized server environment
·         Experience with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript  (to support Fluid UI in 9.2)
·         Disaster Recovery experience


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Establish PeopleSoft system by assisting with planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.
•    Establish PeopleSoft system specifications by conferring with Client's SME’s; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
•    Maintains PeopleSoft system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; assist with troubleshooting system hardware, software, storage and networks issues; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to Client's SMEs or vendors
•    Work with technical resources (DBA, Server Administrator, Storage Administrator, Network Administrator) to build and configure the PeopleSoft environments
•    Administer, maintain and support PeopleSoft applications; includes web servers, application servers, reverse proxy servers, REN server, Integration Broker and Process Schedulers
•    Troubleshoot PeopleSoft technical and performance issues 
•    Secures PeopleSoft system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation
•    Prepare, plan, collaborate and implement upgrades, migrations, integration, maintenance and new features
•    Develop, implement and execute the object migration process for the projects
•    Working directly with the system vendors to troubleshoot and determine solutions for complex issues
•    Resolve or facilitate the resolution of reported PeopleSoft system incidents
•    Conducting business process re-engineering to identify opportunities for improvement, and making appropriate recommendations; ensuring processes and systems are optimally aligned and that they follow industry standards 
•    Executing project management activities within established standards and methodologies
•    Review and approve or push back on proposals for customizing applications.  Assess various criteria such as criticality, best practices, experience of other customers, invasiveness and costliness of the proposed enhancement, and impact on other modules.  Work with IT developers to determine best all-around solution
•    Research and develop proposals in new and existing areas of PeopleSoft HCM functionality to meet business needs
•    Strictly enforcing PeopleSoft change management and security administration access control policies
•    Provide some non‐standard work hours support as required to perform assigned duties or resolve incidents.
•    Develop thorough documentation for Client’s PeopleSoft systems, processes and procedures
•    Develop and mentor other teams member to be backup PeopleSoft Administrators

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

•    Experience architecting PeopleSoft environments  
•    PeopleSoft HCM 9.1, Tools 8.54, production support, and a global  24/7 support model experience
•    PeopleTools 8.54 install/upgrade and support experience
•    HCM 9.2 install/upgrade and support experience
•    Production support operations experience including bundle/patches, migrations, refreshes, PeopleSoft Upgrade Manager (PUM), Process Scheduler, and Integration Broker
•    Experience installing and maintaining Secure Enterprise Search (SES)
•    Experience installing and maintaining PeopleSoft’s Performance Management (PPM) module 
•    PeopleSoft-specific DBA experience, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 on Windows OS 2008 R2 and Windows OS 2012 R2
•    Experience with change control software like Phire, Quest/Dell State, and ServiceNow
•    Experience working with and maintaining PeopleSoft on a high availability (HA) infrastructure
•    Experience working in a virtualized server environment
•    Experience with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript  (to support Fluid UI in 9.2)
•    Experience securing a PeopleSoft environment including encrypting PeopleSoft data in transit (e.g., SSL) and at rest (e.g., DTE)
•    Experience setting up, testing and maintaining Disaster Recovery (DR) environments  
•    Strong technical expertise with Integration broker, Excel to CI, Gateways, installations, configurations, DBA skills, managing PeopleSoft servers, networks and operating system, and  system administration
•    Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft system administration tools like Process Scheduler, Data Mover, Application Designer 
•    Strong understanding of PeopleSoft configuration management and security administration
•    Hands on experience  managing PeopleSoft  instances and understanding of PIA
•    Hands on experience building PeopleSoft environments 
•    Hands on experience patching, cloning, backup, restoration, and PeopleSoft system administrator activities  
•    Experience with performance tuning of PeopleSoft environments
•    Experience working with Oracle’s WebLogic web server software
•    Experience working with reverse proxy servers in a PeopleSoft environment, specifically IIS
•    Experience configuring PeopleSoft change assistant and running change assistant jobs 
•    Experience working with My Oracle Support to report and resolve vendor software  issues
•    Experience using load balancing in a PeopleSoft environment, specifically Citrix Netscaler and F5 BigIP
•    Good overall troubleshooting experience 
•    Experience supporting various project activities like CRPs, SIT, and UAT  
•    Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with other IT SMEs
•    7+ years of experience as a PeopleSoft System Administrator (PS Admin)
•    Ability to multi-task and effectively use resources
•    Experience working with internal, external and off-shore IT resources to review, prioritize and execute projects
•    Education/Training: B.S/B.A. in Computer Science or related field; or an equivalent in education and experience
•    Solid knowledge and ability to effectively use MS Office Suite
